The River Yare At Bawburgh This intimate 1.5 mile stretch of the upper river Yare is some of the most un spoilt river habitat in Norfolk. Winding its way down from Bawburgh Village Mill through open flood meadows until it passes under the main A47 this upper section not controlled by Bawburgh Lakes is a deeper section with deep bends and undercuts, however the river changes some what as it joins the Bawburgh fishery still deep to begin with but then begins to shallow in sections as it runs over the natural riffles and glides, before it again deepens as it reaches the bottom boundary of the fishery and flows out of the fishery again through open meadows on its way down to Earlham.
The river is purposely left as natural as possible allowing some woody debris into the river , with over hanging trees to create rafts and allowing the reeds to narrow the channel in places, however this can make the fishing challenging at times, especially the bank side vegatation during the summer months, however the fishing in this environment can be especially rewarding and exciting, stalking specimen chub and pound plus roach from under your rod tip |
